Update Energy Efficiency Elements of City Regulations

San Joaquin County is expected to experience tremendous growth in the coming years. There exists a unique opportunity to ensure that energy efficiency technologies are incorporated in these new construction activities. Intergy shall work with local government to provide new incentives/requirements to developers and business owners to improve energy efficiency. Listed below are the different elements of the program.
Non-Residential
Work with City planning departments to revise and create codes and standards encouraging/requiring energy efficiency beyond Title 24.
Activities include:
- Identifying opportunities for code encouraged or mandated energy efficiency beyond Title 24.
- Analyzing city and developer cost implications of proposed code and standard revisions and additions.
- Obtain city and developer buy-in of proposed code and standard revisions and additions.
- Obtain council approval of proposed code and standard revisions and additions.
- Work with city planning departments to finalize language of code and permitting changes.
Residential
Residential new construction component will leverage City planning and permitting processes to influence and encourage developers and builders to install highly efficient and innovative HVAC technologies such as advanced indirect/direct evaporative coolers and night time economizers.
Activities include:
- Working with city’s planning departments and developers to identify appropriate code and permitting language to encourage the use of above-code energy efficiency equipment (already in process).
- Working with developers and builders to quantify cost implications of above-code specifications.
- Foster code and permitting changes through approval process including council approvals.
- Work with city and developers to finalize language of code and permitting changes.
