Small Business Education Program

As San Joaquin Energy Watch is designed to be a highly localized program, business training and education will focus on the precise needs of the local community. Specifically, this process will include coordinating businesses targeted for education with South San Joaquin WorkNet. South San Joaquin WorkNet helps local businesses by helping them start a business, apply for business loans, hire additional employees, expand their business, and hand-hold them through permit processes. Visits by program staff to businesses will be coordinated and scheduled leveraging WorkNet.

A prime goal of this element is to help local businesses contact Winegard Energy to encourage participation in the direct installation program, which offers free lighting upgrades

Outreach activities include:
  • Information will include briefs on innovative technologies.
  • Best practices for energy efficiency.
  • Demand response technologies and PG&E demand response programs.
  • Distributed generation technologies and PG&E self generation programs.
Technical assessments for local businesses targeted through WorkNet. Assessments will include:
  • Assessments will include collecting facility energy related data from visual, measured, and reported sources.
  • Perform an analysis of energy data to the businesses.
  • Identifying energy saving equipment direct retrofits.
  • Identifying potential energy saving building envelope upgrades.
  • Quantify the energy savings and financial payback of identified measures.
  • Providing the business a facility report both summarizing and detailing current facility energy consumption and potential energy efficiency upgrades. This will include specific recommendations based on energy savings and financial parameters.
  • Create Energy Efficiency Retrofit Case Studies based upon these assessments and new equipment installed.
