Partners win Flex Your Power awards
Dublin –Two Southern California community college districts, which Intergy Corporation has helped with funding for energy efficiency projects, were recently honored as 2005 winners by the statewide Flex Your Power Awards.
Flex Your Power, the statewide energy efficiency campaign announced that Crafton Hills College, from the San Bernardino Community College District, was chosen for an Energy Efficiency Honorable Mention award. Crafton Hills dropped its total electricity use by 28 percent by replacing all lights with T8 fluorescent lights, compact fluorescent lights (CFLs) or LED lights; installing motion sensors; incorporating an energy management system; installing an energy-efficient chiller and boiler; repairing and optimizing the HVAC system; and utilizing water saving technologies in all school restrooms. Now the college can redirect $165,000 annually to student programs and campus improvements.
Intergy, through its Southern California Edison IDEEA–Community College Program, helped Crafton Hills College provided over $250,000 in incentives for the project, which will save about 1.5 million kWh per year.
Los Angeles Community College District, also one of the colleges involved with the IDEEA program received an Education and Leadership award for their ongoing green-building project. When completed, it will be the largest public-sector project in the nation. The IDEEA-Community College Program has helped fund projects at three of the LA colleges.
The Davis Energy Group was honored under the Innovative Products & Services Awards for two exceptional air-conditioning technologies, “NightBreeze” and “OASys”. Intergy is working with DEG on funding proposals that will accelerate the commercialization of both products.
