 Los Angeles Community College District

For the Los Angeles Community College District, Southwest, West and East Los Angeles colleges are involved.

The primary activity with LACCD is implementation of an innovative computer network application to reduce PC energy consumption. The application provides a comprehensive means to ensure that unused PCs are put into low power modes during the occupied hours and turned off at the end of the day. As the three sites we are targeting have a few thousand PCs, the aggregate energy savings is substantial: we estimate potential annual savings up to 1,000,000 kWh and $100,000.
Other current measures at LACCD include a chiller replacement at West LA College and vending machine controls at all sites. Future potential measures include lighting retrofits and motor controls.
At the LACCD District Office, a baseline installation of Surveyor is complete. Surveyor is a PC power management application providing an IT solution to power down unused PCs thereby reducing PC power consumption. Results from the baseline installation will be analyzed to quantify the total potential savings of a full rollout of the application at West LA, LA Southwest, and East LA Colleges.
