Intergy Continues to Expand Its Energy Efficiency Services in the Lodging Industry
San Diego -- Intergy recently launched the Lodging Energy Efficiency Program (LodgingEEP), a lodging and hotel-based energy efficiency program for San Diego Gas & Electric. LodgingEEP provides energy efficiency services and retrofit incentives to San Diego's hospitality industry - a sector that offers substantial energy savings.
Besides lighting and HVAC, hotels use large amounts of energy to heat water. The program offers comprehensive technologies to capture all potential savings, eliminate lost opportunities and works with SDG&E account executives to reach small as well as large hotels and hotel chains. Though offering comprehensive measures, Hotel Energy Savers coordinates the lighting and HVAC work with SDG&E's traditional programs. The program's goal is to deliver 200,000 therms, 1.1 million gross kWh and 280 kW in 2008. The program is a complement to PG&E's successful Lodging Savers Program, and is being administered from Intergy's new San Diego office at 402 West Broadway, Suite #400 San Diego, California 92101, ph: 619-595-3128.
PG&E's Lodging Savers Program
Intergy is working with Ecology Action to implement PG&E's Lodging Savers Program in Northern California. The PG&E program deals with several large hotel chains that have facilities throughout Southern California and San Diego, so there's an existing base of interested clients. The program works closely with PG&E account representatives and a variety of retrofits and retro-commissioning projects have been completed. In several San Francisco hotels, Intergy has done both energy and water efficiency retrofits, tying into the water saver program that they are implementing for the San Francisco Public Utility Commission. The program has been extremely successful, saving over 3 million kWh and about 120,000 therms with the larger properties along with almost 9,000,000 gallons of water saved through coordination with the Water Savers program. Overall, LodgingSavers is on track to save over 7 million kWh by year end, and is being extended for the 2009-2011 cycle.
California PreSchool Energy Efficiency Program (CPEEP) Saves 9 Million kWh for Hundreds of Sites
The California Preschool Energy Efficiency Program, implemented by the Low-Income Investment Fund and Intergy, is performing beyond expectations. The program, which is offered by SCE and SDGE in Southern California and PG&E in Northern California, provides a variety of energy efficiency activities for the state's preschools, including audits, lighting upgrades and HVAC tune ups.
The largest program implemented in Southern California Edison's service territory, CPEEP has enough commitments to accomplish over 125 percent of the program's goals. Implemented in the 2006 - 2008 cycle for the utilities, it has also been extended and enlarged for the 2009 - 2011 period.
While CPEEP targets state-licensed and Head Start sites, privately-funded preschools are also eligible. Participation in the program has been very strong, and clients include Child Time/Tutor Time, KinderCare, Neighborhood House Association, Long Beach Unified School District and Los Angeles Unified School District. Under the program, many preschools have already reported cutting their energy usage by half.
Last spring, CPEEP's efforts for the Mexican American Opportunity Foundation (MAOF) won a Flex Your Power award. The program helped MAOF reduce over 280,000 kWh annually at their 25 sites. The energy efficiency upgrades for MAOF are projected to save over $40,000 per year.
